Larry Alan Willis, 68, died Monday, July 23, 2018. The Sparta, IL native was born February 14, 1950.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Bernice Willis. He married Deb (Doyle) Willis on July 21, 1990 in Sterling, VA. Larry loved working on crossword puzzles, solving the Daily Jumble and making people laugh. His sense of humor was contagious and there was never a dull moment with Larry in the room with his crazy wit. He was a sports fanatic especially when he watched college football. There were very few times not to see Larry and Deb together laughing out loud. He was a devoted husband and Dad, a best friend, a mentor and was a rock to many.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Larry served his country from February, 1969 until June, 1976. During his service, Larry was an air traffic controller and was deployed to Korea for more than a year before finishing his service in Wichita, KS. Larry spent several years as an FAA Air Traffic Controller before working for Key Airlines based in Salt Lake City and eventually headquartered in Savannah. Larry also worked for the American Red Cross for 8 years. After more than 9 years of service, Larry retired in 2011 as a 911 dispatcher from Savannah-Chatham County Metropolitan Police Department.
Surviving are his wife, Deb; two sons, Craig Willis (Jennifer) from Henderson, NV, and Shane Willis (Gelene) of Ivan, Utah; four grandchildren, Mason, Jaden, Cameron, and Alyssa; his sisters, Carole Nordberg (David) of Titusville, FL; Cathy Watkins (Darryl) of Summerville, SC; Mary Jo Pemberton (Bob) of Mt. Vernon, IL, Nancy Petroski (David) of Tucson, AZ, Christine Schuerman of Idaho, and Amy Schilling (Randy) of Percy, IL; one brother, Gary Willis (Harriett) of West Frankfort, IL.

I am grateful and blessed to have known Larry and spend some great times and laughs, although life situations as well as distance come between relationships, memories and love in your heart is something that never goes away!
